Notes to the Schedule of Fees

1  Tuition Fee

The tuition fee excludes; stationery for existing students, school uniform, private tests or tuition, some sports equipment and class materials (eg. camera).

2  Tuition Fee - Short Term

Short term placements for a minimum of two weeks are accepted as class places permit, for students intending to return for long-term study.

3  Care Provider & Accommodation Agent

All students must have an approved Middleton Grange Care Provider and Accommodation Agent OR Designated Caregiver, unless living with a parent.

4  This fee includes the following:

  • Ensure the student follows the Conditions of Enrolment, Tuition Agreement and Rules for International Students and the Code of Practice for the Pastoral.
  • Care of International Students.
  • Be in regular contact with students and parents or agent.
  • Meet students at the airport.
  • Locate and organise homestay.
  • Ensure that all individuals 18 years and over resident in the homestay have a police clearance.
  • Apply for permission to travel as appropriate.
  • Be responsible for the student’s behaviour out of school hours.
  • Make common sense judgements in line with our Christian character about what is appropriate in a homestay.
  • Be responsible for student’s international travel, visa requirements, medical insurance, medical care, financial arrangements and general welfare.
  • Be in close contact with the school and be in regular contact with the Care Provider Manager, Mrs Cathy Benden.

5  Code Compliance Fee

A Designated Caregiver is a family relative or close family friend. Students are permitted to live with this person but it is at the discretion of the School to determine if this status is applicable. A Designated Caregiver must undertake all of the duties listed in 4 with the exception of homestay arrangements.

6  Health & Travel Insurance

Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly-funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health and can be viewed on their website at http://www.moh.govt.nz.

The Ministry of Education Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students requires all students to have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying and travelling to/from New Zealand. It is a condition of enrolment that you have a comprehensive Unicare policy purchased by Middleton Grange on your behalf. Parents, agents and pupils must check the conditions of the Unicare policy as it is a minimum requirement only and it may be necessary to purchase “top-up” insurance. There is no refund for medical insurance once arranged.

7  NCEA Fees

NCEA fees are charged by the New Zealand Qualfications Authority (NZQA) for the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA). This is the national qualification that successful students will achieve each year in the Senior College. The cost is calculated by NZQA on an annual basis and is approximately $375. You will be invoiced for this with all other fees. If a student is sitting additional examinations for Scholarship in Year 13, an additional cost of $100 is charged, however the International College will be pleased to pay this Scholarship Fee provided the student has been recommended by their subject teacher.

Payment of Fees

Students can pay fees by bank transfer, bank card, bank cheques or cash. The school’s bank account name is Middleton Grange Schools’ Trust Account and the account number is 02-0874-0182976-00.
