Middleton Grange International College in Queenstown
At 9:00am on Wednesday 27th April, 9 staff and 47 pupils left school for a trip down to Queenstown. Although it was
a long bus trip, we broke the journey with stops at Geraldine for morning tea and Lake Tekapo for a visit to the Church
of the Good Shepherd and lunch. The next stop was at Mrs Jones’ fruit stall just outside Cromwell, where we enjoyed ice
creams, dried fruit products and wonderful fresh fruit. We then started the final leg to Pinewood Lodge in Queenstown. The next morning started with breakfast in the dining hall after which we all headed off for fun activities. The weather was beautiful – crisp but sunny. Throughout the next 2 days pupils took part in activities like parasailing, paragliding, skydiving, jet boating and the gondola
and luge. Mook Intarampan, Jason Chen and Gary Li, who did skydiving, said it was the best experience they’d ever had.
The luge was a highlight for most and some of the adults on the trip took luge racing to new heights. On Friday morning we all headed to
Arrowtown for a visit to the Chinese village and a walk around town. Again, it was a beautiful day and being in suchan historic, quaint town was a wonderful experience for everyone.
We started the trip back bright and early on Saturday morning and headed to Wanaka for our first stop. Everyone enjoyed a visit to Puzzling World and lunch there. Then it was the long road back with stops at Lake Pukaki and Geraldine. The views of Mt. Cook and the
Southern Alps were breathtaking. We weren’t really ready to return to Christchurch, but we were all content and tired after a fun filled trip.
